CompensationAt S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive
and equitable compensation for all our team members, with a
commitment to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated
hourly base pay rate for this position is $20 per hour. This role
is also eligible for S&C's annual short-term incentive bonus,
subject to eligibility criteria.Join Our Team as a finisher!Are you
passionate about metal finishing? S&C Electric Company is
seeking a dynamic individual to coordinate our metal finishing
function. As a finisher, you'll be crucial in ensuring smooth
operations and supporting our diverse team. The Finishing System is
a process designed to pre-treat metal (i.e., powder coat and liquid
paint) to protect it from the environment. You will work in a
production environment, engage in continuous productive activity
and must meet requirements within predetermined time constraints.
Tasks require the use of both hands and arms on a repetitive basis
for a full range of motion.Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with loading and unloading parts into racks, barrels,
and baskets for heat treating, cleaning, and electroplating.
- Monitor the basic functions of heat treatment machinery and
auxiliary equipment, under guidance from more senior team
members.
- Document temperatures and time exposure for parts during heat
treatment and electroplating processes.
- Clean and remove grease from parts using Ransohoff machines and
ensure parts are properly prepared for electroplating.
- Metal Finishing equipment such as sand, vapor and metal
sprayers to the job description.
- Follow instructions to control the sequence and order of parts
for processing.
- Use basic measuring equipment to ensure part dimensions and
plating thicknesses are within required tolerances.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring that all
tools and materials are properly stored after use.
- Perform all tasks in compliance with established safety
protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment
(PPE).
- Meet department targets and consistently adhere to quality and
safety standards.
- Display a willingness to perform physical tasks, such as
lifting, carrying, and standing for extended periods in a
manufacturing environment.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure
production deadlines are met, reporting any potential delays or
issues promptly.
- Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and
rules.What you'll Need To Succeed:
- 0-1 year of work experience with a willingess to learn metal
finishing operations.
- Willingness to work in a hot, noisy environment and perform
physically demanding tasks.
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools, with the ability to
learn new equipment.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, including
safety guidelines.
- Good attention to detail, with the ensure even finishing.
- Good communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability
to articulate information efficiently and effectively to team
members in a variety of production support departments.
- Basic shop math skills with the ability to calculate
measurements and weights.
- Good interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability
to understand and complete requests given by team member inside and
outside of the department.
- Ability and willingness to follow Health, Safety & Environment
procedures accurately, reporting concerns promptly to the safety
action team.
- Ability to work overtime as required to meet production
needs.Physical demands:
Standing: Continuously required to
stand and perform tasks. Lifting: Frequently required to solo or
team lift and/or carry items exercising sound judgment to employ
manual handling or machine lifts where required, and risk
assessments, if appropriate. Walking: Frequently required to walk
moderate distances across the S&C campus. Low Posture:
Frequently required to perform tasks using a low posture, including
but not limited to stooping, bending, crawling, crouching,
kneeling, or squatting. Position self/ mode: Frequently required to
position self to perform tasks involving but not limited to
reaching, twisting, rotating, and pushing/pulling. Manual
Dexterity: Frequently required to use hand-eye coordination to
control both hands and arms for a full range of motion to operate
equipment/machinery/power tools/office productivity equipment.
Bending: Frequently ascending or descending stairs and
ladders.Observation/ Eyesight: Frequently required to observe
details at close range including depth perception, peripheral
vision and the ability to differentiate between colorsEnvironmental
& Hazardous Conditions
- Continuously working indoors in an non air-conditioned/air
conditioned manufacturing-based environment.
- Continuously exposed to
fumes/vapors/dust/gases/odors/mist/toxic
chemicals/vibration/grease/oils/lasers/other etc.
- Continuously exposed to moderate noise levels, including
machinery and forklifts.
- Frequently working around energized equipment with the risk of
electrocution/scalding/burns/other etc.
- Frequently exposed to extreme heat (non-weather)
conditions/other etc.
- Continuously working with machinery with moving
parts/vehicles/forklifts/heavy machinery/sharp objects/other etc.
