The Role

The Law Offices of Robert B. Buchanan is looking for a sharp and passionate family attorney who will zealously represent our clients in all areas of family law. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter, who has exemplary communication skills to effectively work with our trusted clients and is able to handle the ever-growing and changing legal matters in the domestic relations division. You must be detail-oriented, have excellent people skills, strong writing and organizational skills, a strong work ethic, be technologically savvy, and have the ability to work both independently as well as part of a team. You'll be paired with a highly trained paralegal and have the support of our other internal teams, as well as a strong leadership team and our founder, Bobby Buchanan.--

You'll assist individuals in a variety of situations such as navigating prenuptial agreements and attending court hearings for divorce, alimony/spousal support, and child support. The prime candidate will have experience with a range of sensitive legal issues such as child abuse, child custody, and domestic violence, and be able to maintain composure, negotiate, and argue effectively even in emotional and high-stress situations. Responsibilities:
--- Advocate on behalf of clients by understanding their needs, effectively analyzing the situation and forming a strategy for a plan of action
--- Maintain client files to ensure they are properly organized and up to date
--- Collaborate with senior partners and paralegals to effectively move files through the civil litigation process
--- Ensure clients are effectively represented at court hearings as needed
--- Prepare legal documents such as legal pleadings, motions, marital settlement agreements, -contracts, judgments, and orders for a high volume of cases
--- Contribute to the sales efforts for the firm by handling incoming PNC calls
--- Take responsibility for collection rate and accounts receivables for your clients

Qualifications:
--- Great negotiation and communication skills, particularly in stressful and emotional situations
--- You must be comfortable and excited by the prospect of leveraging technology in the course of practicing law
--- A passion for the practice of divorce and family law
--- Must be licensed to practice law in the state of Illinois and live within our coverage area (Kane, Cook, Lake, DuPage, and Will Counties)
--- Juris Doctor degree required
--- Must have worked on family law issues for at least 5+ years
--- Possess a solid working knowledge of computer software applications, including Microsoft Office, Google Suite, CRMs, time tracking software, Slack, Zoom, etc.
--- Be ready to grow both personally and professionally in your role
