(Total FTE 1. 0)Shift: Shift 1Work Schedule: 8 HrSummary:The CCL/IR
RN 1 is a competent beginning level nurse who has utilizes
technical skills and is responsible for assessing the nursing needs
and initiating appropriate intervention for patients in the Cardiac
Cath Lab, Interventional Radiology, Cardiology, Computerized
Tomography, Nuclear Cardiology and Imaging Departments according to
Departmental, Nursing and Hospital policies and procedures. This
position assists in conducting invasive cardiac and interventional
procedures. Participates in all functions necessary to maintain
high standards of care in all areas. The nurse is functioning as
either a circulating staff or a monitoring staff for a variety of
procedures within the Department. This position continues to rely
on the experience, judgement and support of the other Cardiac Cath
team members while developing practice-based knowledge. This person

Responsibilities:Evidence Based Interventions. Participate in the
collection of data unit-based quality initiatives, research and
evidence-based activities. Utilizes system wide resources to

investigation and initiates actions to address. Communicates

Utilizes competent assessment skills and judgment necessary to
implement medical plan of care, nursing intervention and procedures
as necessary for the care of the patient. Demonstrate the ability
to prioritize care for complex patients based on knowledge acquired
from previous clinical experiences. Recognizes changes in patient
status and consistently responds effectively. Assures that patients
are safely transported to and from the departments.Technical
Expertise Demonstrates consistent safe and effective use of medical
devices in the delivery of patient care. Demonstrates
accountability for implementing policies related to safe and
effective administration of medications. Assesses patient safety
needs consistently and implements appropriate strategies (fall
precautions, infection control, and suicide risk patient
identification) to minimize risk. Individualizes teaching plans
based on a thorough assessment to meet the learning needs of
patients and families, to ensure that the unique nature of the
client is addressed.Leadership Ensures the equipment in the
department is maintained in safe and proper working condition.
Recommends supply procurement and equipment modifications
Demonstrates the ability to provide information to staff and
students on the unit. Graduate of an accredited Nursing program.
Registered Professional Nurse Licensure by the state of Illinois
required. Demonstrates beginning leadership skills related to
patient care. Delegates effectively and consistently to optimize
patient outcomes Demonstrates accountability for own professional
practice, including progress toward achievement of annual
goalsOther information:Required Job Qualifications: 1-3 years of
experience Graduate of an accredited Nursing program. Current state
of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse Licensure Baccalaureate
degree in nursing (except current employees hired before July
2008). Non-baccalaureate RN s are not eligible for promotion.
Specialized certification; Current CPR and ACLS; Must have one-year
critical care experience. Individuals with significant job-related
experience will be considered. Good understanding of cardiovascular
anatomy and hemodynamics. Must have the ability to take call-on
rotation after normal operating hours (including weekdays, weekends
and Holidays), arrival time for STEMI in 30 min.)Preferred Job
Qualifications: Previous experience in the Cath Lab/IR will
consider OR/Endo/ICU experience.Ability to operate any of the
following: Siemens Artis Zee Interventional equipment - limited
Siemens Artis Q Interventional equipment - limited EPIC-Electronic
medical record PACS/MERGE MAC LAB Hemodynamic recording equipment
Medrad power injectors-all varieties Maquette IABP IVUS/FFR/Smart
Map IVAC pumps Defibrillator Oxygen Pulse Oximetry Patient
transport devices Phone system Paging system AVOXIMETER ACT Machine
Avinger Light Box Imaging Console CSI BOVIE SonoSite US Temporary

other ancillary equipmentCompetencies/Skills: Analytical ability
Communication skills are required in order to lead and teach.
Ability to interact effectively with others in difficult situations
and stressful situation. Ability to maintain confidential
information. Ability to do priority management. Must have good
organizational skills.Physical Demands/ Abilities: Work requires
the ability to walk throughout the Hospital and Ancillary
Buildings, and to be standing or walking most of the designated
shift. Work requires lifting or carrying objects 35-40lbs. and
lifting and positioning patients, some of whom may exceed 300 lbs.
Work requires the intermittent ability to climb, lift, bend, twist,
reach, pull, push or crawl to assemble procedural equipment and/or
replenish supplies. Visual, Auditory, Hand dexterity, Speed,
Coordination: Hand/eye, Eye/Foot, Hand/foot, and Mobility: Full
body, and partial body mechanical ability is necessary for
multitasking, and utilizing equipment during procedures. The
ability to wear a lead apron 90% of the time during procedures. The
average weight of a lead apron is 13 - 20 pounds. The ability to
check documents for errors, use a keyboard to enter or retrieve
data, and closely examine specimens, images or reports is required,
and may require prolonged sitting Work conditions include
performing procedures where carelessness could result in injury or
illness and/or contact with potentially infectious materials and/or
